What is The Embedded Accelerator?
The Embedded Accelerator is a 12-week program that builds scalable electronic products.
For up to 10 ambitious innovators, we offer a cost-effective way to build a physical prototype. Tap into our engineers and equipment as we design your first proof-of-concept, or the next generation of your prototype, plus, get design-for-manufacture guidance, expert mentoring and more. Our goal? Develop systems that grow with demand.
- £25,000 match-funded prototype development
- Professional-grade electronics lab and equipment access
- Rapid prototyping and 3D printing
- Business mentoring from industry experts and academics
- Boutique co-lab space
- Manufacturing and supply chain support and introductions
- Opportunity to pitch to and network with investors
Who is it for?
Innovators with electronics products ready to move beyond the DIY phase. Whether you’re a start-up, SME, or researcher, if you’re building embedded tech with disruptive potential, The Embedded Accelerator will help you scale it.
You’re a good fit if you are:
- UK-based
- Developing an embedded electronics product (Technology Readiness Level 2 or higher)
- A start-up, researcher, or SME
- Looking for non-diluting funding
- Ambitious about investment and commercial growth
From manufacturing to medtech and femtech, any sector application is welcome. There is no requirement on secured funding, although pre-seed investment is preferable.
Success Story
Haptiv8, is a UK based medical device start-up developing Smart Insole for tip toe walkers.

- Problem:
Currently, costs NHS £83k per child by the age of 12. - Solution:
Sensory insole that encourages children to walk on the heels. - Value:
Haptiv8 solution would cost only £2k per child by the age of 12. - Challenge:
Build embedded tech that would enable market validation, de-risk scalability and compliance. -
Outcome:
Tested with patients showing significant improvements to gait and posture. -
Impact:
Enabled seed funding round, increasing the company valuation to over £1mill.
The ANDtr Fund
Cohort members receive up to £25k matched funding. This is offered in exchange for a technology license agreement with future buy-out options at your next raise or development phase.
The ANDtr Lab
Between Essex and London, our facilities include electronics equipment, test chambers, rapid prototyping and 3D printers. There is a boutique co-working space where members can upskill, network and collaborate with other embedded tech start-ups on the cohort.
Cohort to Cohort Impact
Every cohort fuels the next. A portion of our profits are reinvested to expand funding for future innovators, creating a self-sustaining platform for scalable electronics. Integration with other programs and services propel you into a wider eco-system, helping growth beyond the cohort.
Investor Engagement
From one-to-one meetings, networking events, and pitch practice, each cohort has the chance to connect with investors throughout the programme and beyond. Open doors to funding opportunities and lasting relationships with the people backing the future of embedded tech. Our investor network is growing fast; contact us if you’d like to be involved.
FAQs
When will the program take place?
The program will start on 26th January 2025 and last for 12 weeks.
Do I have to pay to be on the accelerator?
Yes. We ask cohort members to provide one-third of their project’s total funding, with a minimum contribution of £5,000. This amount is paid before the cohort begins and ensures we can cover essential costs related to prototype development.
Your contribution unlocks matched funding up to £25,000 per cohort member.
How does the matched funding work?
ANDTr will contribute two-thirds of your prototype development costs, up to £25,000 per cohort member. In return, we’ll agree on a startup-friendly license with simple buy-back terms and no equity dilution. You keep 100% ownership of your business.
During the selection process, we’ll assess your development needs and confirm a funding amount that aligns with your budget before the cohort starts.
What is the time commitment?
On average, you’ll spend 2–3 hours per week on the program, including both virtual and in-person sessions. Some weeks may be more intensive, but we aim to schedule in-person sessions together to minimise travel and make the most of your time.
Does my company have to be registered in the UK?
No. In fact, you do not need to be a registered business yet. However, the accelerator is open only to applicants with a UK presence, as we require cohort members to attend the in-person sessions.
What type of tech are you looking for?
Applications from any sector are welcome, including (but not limited to) medtech, femtech and manufacturing. You must be developing an embedded electronics product (Technhology Readinesss Level 2 or higher).
There is no requirement for secured funding, although pre-seed investment is preferable
How do I apply?
Applications open on 20th October and close on 17th November.
