We are proud to announce that our software engineer Kevin Opare has joined the University of Bristol’s brand-new mentoring initiative.

About the initiative

Kevin has been paired with a third year student currently completing their Electrical and Electronics Engineering degree. As a former graduate, Kevin is well placed to provide valuable insights, practical advice, and support to his student mentee as they move towards life after University.

Over the course of the academic year, Kevin will take part in mentoring sessions where he will be able to give realistic advice about the technology industry and give information about the career opportunities available.

A reception was hosted at the University mid-October to kick off the initiative and give students and alumni the chance to meet and get to know each other.

Kevin Opare, AND software engineer, said “I wish I had a mentor whilst I was studying for my degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, it would have given me more insight into the job market by the time I finished Uni. It is empowering to be able to share with other students what I have learnt and be able to give back to society. BAME students are one of the most under presented groups in the Russel group universities, so being a mentor allows me to give others a level of support that wasn’t available to myself at the time.”
