Micropak - Architechtural Simulation

A truly advanced debugger based on

architectural simulation

Micropak is an architechtural simulator / debugger providing full simulation of processor cores and on-chip peripherals. An ideal development environment for debugging micro-controller based projects, the syntax -colouring editor is great for creating or main-taining source files. Where integrated with compiler tool-chains the project management facilities then make it easy to build code into ROM images for your chosen processor, whilst the debugging facilities mean your code can be run and debugged immediately in the same environment.

With Micropak you can :
  • Exercise your code before your hardware is complete.
  • Explore the behaviour of on-chip peripherals in detail.
  • Check interactions with port hardware.
  • Create precise, repeatable test environments.
  • Measure execution times exactly.
  • Watch interrupt - related actions occurring.
  • Manage project source and build files easily.
  • Equip every member of a development team with the same development
  • environment.
  • Set up simulations of your own external hardware.

Features include:

  • Full simulation of CPU core, all I/O ports and all on-chip peripherals.
  • Advanced high-end IDE with comprehensive project management incorporating syntax colouring
editor and fully automatic rebuild controls.
  • Full source level debug including watch and quick watch windows.
  • Unlimited breakpoints on program or data locations.
  • Easy, accurate, execution time measurements.
  • Code coverage aids diagnosis and enables test regime assessment.
  • Performance analysis functions allow execution profiling and code refinement.
  • Comprehensive execution controls - 'step to cursor', 'step into', 'step over', 'step out', at assembler or source level.
  • Trace buffering with 'step-back' facility provides easy trace buffer navigation.
  • Special view windows for every on-chip peripheral show actions and set-ups.
  • Signals windows provide 'DSO-style' plots of any pin voltage or RAM variable value.
  • Powerful, easy-to-learn script language allows simulation of external conditions or user hardware.
Test panels give customisable views with bitmap option for simulation of e.g. custom LCD displays.
  • Compatible with standard Toshiba compiler/linker tool chain

CodeLines our I/O code generation tools will also generate 'test panels' and 'script files' for Micropak 870, allowing tests for both on and off-chip peripherals to be set up semi-automatically - speeding testing and increasing test coverage. ICE-870 is an advanced in-circuit emulator for selected TLCS-870 devices, and features a user in-terface which is closely aligned to that of Micropak, allowing hardware based testing but still retaining familiarity with the user inter-face details.

PC host requirements.

The suggested minimum requirements are :-

Processor RAM
O/S
Display Storage

Pentium or compatible
16 Mbytes
Windows NT 3.5 or Windows 95
SVGA or better
30Mbyte
